Druidism

Druids are the sages of the Celts and druidism is based on their knowledge and tradition and in celtic culture.

Druidism was found ages ago, before Christianity spread all over the world, but the original druidism is far gone due to the effects of the Catholic church. Original druidism dates back to 1000 BC.

The druidism practiced today is still based on the old ways and original druidism. Modern druidism dates back to the 1960’s, when it was found in England.

The main things in druidism are the Wheel of the Year and different kinds of gods and goddesses. The Wheel of the Year is a calender, that starts from the sabbath Samhain (1st of November, druidic New Year), followed by sabbaths Yule, Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Midsummer, Lughnasadh and Mabon.

The gods and goddesses are divided in to three main categories; tribal gods, warrior gods and earth gods. There’s known to be over 300 different gods and goddesses in druidism.

Modern druidism is somehow different that the original druidism. In “good old days”, there was only male druids, but in modern druidism there’s also a lot of female druids. Probably the most well-known thing about druids and druidism is the Stonehenge; a very important place to druids all over the world.
