| What is WiccaBefore I start to tell you what Wicca is, I can tell what is it not. It is not a like Willow from the TV-seies Buffy or Charmed. Wicca is same time a religion as well as a way of living. I can be both, or just other, it's one to decide. If you came to these pages because you saw Sabrina the Teenage Witch in a television, and you want to do achive same magic, I commend you return back to front of the television.
Longing and calling
People have tried to find out clear or universally applicable explanation to Wicca, and this is my part to the pot. Wicca is a connection with the nature and the world, it is a longing and calling of the nature which calls you to it, and you know it in your heart. Wicca nowadays is divided mainly into two caste: Trend-Wiccans, as is, people who start to act as a wicca just because it is trendy, and those, who find their path by the calling.
But what is the calling then? We all have our own opinion about this, so I tell you what the calling of the nature is to me. It is a feeling when look in to the nightly forest closing your eyes and feel it calling towards it. It is a water drop and smell of the morning, damp grass, which makes you travel in to the unknown. It is a feeling when you are in the middle of the nature and you know you are in the home, in the place, where you feel good and safe.
Wicca is not a scientology nor it is not a satan worshipping blood sacrifices. It is being a part with the world. Unlike most of the religion, wicca does not convert other people to it's religion. It's a path of life people have chose and selected, it is a feeling which only you know.
Elements and wicca
Nature's elements are and always been imporant to the wiccans. Cycle of the nature, sun, moon and the events in the nature belong strongly to the lives of the every wiccan, and it is no wonder to see one's stop in the forest closing your eyes and feeling the place and it's energies around you.
Wiccans have eight sabbaths in a year. These are Imbolc, Beltane, Ostara, Litha, Lugnasadh, Mabon, Samhainand Yule. For more specific information of these you can find from our sabbaths - section.
In addition to nature, many wiccans experience deeply his or hers goddesses and/or gods. Wiccans choose to their self a power figure, which (or whiches) through creativity of the wiccan comes true. This can be seen on jewelry, symbols and in rites, where a relationship between a deity and a wicca is experiences in several different ways.
